Our clinicians work together as a team to develop and implement an individualized plan of care tailored specifically to the needs of your child. Parent Education is a key component of our services. Parents have opportunities to engage in training and learn how to implement intervention techniques and apply key learning from their child’s behavior plan at home and in the community.

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an intensive therapeutic research-based methodology proven to successfully treat children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). ABA therapy targets the core characteristics of ASD for intervention to strengthen communication, social and self-care skills, and reduce challenging behaviors that interfere with learning. ABA therapy is the gold-standard of care in helping children with autism develop successfully and prepare for success in school and at home and in the broader community.

A Certified Behavior Analyst Assistant (CBAA) must meet the certification requirements of this law (NY State Education Law) and work under the supervision of a licensed behavior analyst to provide applied behavior analysis tasks as assigned by the supervising licensed behavior analyst in accordance with the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education.

The licensed behavior analyst (LBA) provides services and activities for the design, implementation, and evaluation of environmental modifications, using behavioral stimuli and consequences, to produce socially significant improvement in human behavior, including the use of direct observation, measurement, and functional analysis of the relationship between environment and behavior.

Services will be provided by New York State Licensed Behavior Analysts, ABA paraprofessionals, or a provider on path to attaining one of the above certifications while under supervision of a New York State Licensed Behavior Analyst. Supervision of your child’s program will be provided by a New York State Licensed Behavior Analyst.

Each child's plan of care is developed individually as part of the initial assessment. Your New York State Licensed Behavior Analyst will determine your child's specific needs and make recommendations accordingly. It is important to remember that ABA is like any other medical prescription. The prescribed hours are based on what your New York State Licensed Behavior Analyst determines is medically necessary for your child to make progress. Your child's plan and the recommended hours will be reviewed with your family. Hours generally decrease as the client progresses in independence and generalizes behavioral changes to other critical settings.

A supervising New York State Licensed Behavior Analyst completes the initial and ongoing assessment, develops a treatment plan and program, reviews program goals, analyzes the program data, and provides educational and behavioral interventions for ABA paraprofessionals to implement. The designated supervising New York State Licensed Behavior Analyst is responsible for the work performed by the ABA paraprofessional. All ABA paraprofessionals are required to be supervised by a New York State Licensed Behavior Analyst for at least 1 hour of every 10 hours of ABA services the ABA paraprofessional provides.

You have a very important role in your child's learning process, which starts with the assessment and lasts through the full course of treatment. This includes providing information about your child, approving goals and objectives, and working with the programs and behavior intervention plans that the supervising New York State Licensed Behavior Analyst will develop. The supervising New York State Licensed Behavior Analyst will determine the frequency, duration and location of the services based on your child’s assessment. We will also want you to participate in weekly family training sessions and monthly team meetings to ensure consistency.
